 2005 Steele Zinfandel – “Pacini”

Zinfandel was the first wine Jed Steele was “known for” back in the day when he was a winemaker at Edmeades in Mendocino County.  He may well have developed a fondness for the grapes from that vineyard way back then.  As Jed became more and more famous and started his own winery he always bought the fruit from the Pacini Vineyard in Mendocino until he was able to BUY THE VINEYARD!  Now, the wine is better than it has ever been and since Jed has been able to make the vineyard more productive, a seriously good, rich in spicy, berry-fruit favored, but not over-the-top zinfandel, that sold for over $20, not too many years ago, is now a screamin good deal at $14.00.
